Mike Northern's experience as both a trading standards officer, and latterly as a solicitor practicing in the City acting for large corporate clients and trade bodies in the trading law and anti-piracy fields, leads him to being uniquely placed to advise on IPR issues.
Mike is experienced in advising on and prosecuting trading standards cases; and he has prosecuted on behalf of anti-piracy organisations such as FACT, BPI and ELSPA under s92 Trade Marks Act 1994, ss107, 198 & 297A Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, Theft Acts and conspiracy to defraud. Mike has also represented clients in all levels of the appeal process, including the House of Lords case of R-v-Johnstone on s92 Trade Marks Act 1994. Mike often liaises with enforcement bodies on behalf of IP clients.
